How to fish it · for Trout
When
Buzzer hatches April through June at first light; sedges in summer; small black flies into October. Eyebrook fishes more wild than its size suggests.
Where
Quiet bays and the deeper edges away from the boat traffic. Weed margins hold browns reliably.
Method
Drifted team of three on a floating line. Slow the retrieve and read each lane — Eyebrook rewards water-craft.
Kit
10 ft #7 boat rod, floating and slow-intermediate lines, 6 to 7 lb fluoro. Drogue and a long-handled net.
The plan
Plan A

Start with Damsel Nymph (12-14) on a slow figure-of-eight or hang under indicator. If that does not produce, switch depth or speed before changing the pattern entirely. In the ripple, a bushy searching dry (Hopper, Shipman's, Elk Hair Caddis) outperforms flush emergers — it stays visible and holds the surface tension.

Plan B

Fish early and late, try deeper during the heat of the day with a fast-sinking line.

Watch for

Evening tends to be the best period in summer — stay late if you can for a sedge or spinner fall.

Either bank or boat

Good ripple suits both bank and boat. Bank: work inflows, dam walls, and points. Boat: broadside drift covering wind lanes.
