River temperature is the limiting factor today, not the flow. Fish dawn or dusk if you go at all, and handle everything with extra care.

How to fish it · for Brown Trout
When
Through the Veneto trout season, 7 March to 28 September. This high, cold water fishes well through the middle of the day more often than the lower valley rivers — the elevation keeps it cool even in summer.
Where
Tight pockets behind boulders and the short pools between them, through the spruce-forest corridors around Cortina and down through the Cadore valley toward Perarolo.
Method
Short-line nymph through the broken pocket water — the Boite is narrow enough that a long cast is rarely the answer. Dry-dropper works well on the calmer stretches. Single barbless on No-Kill water.
Kit
8.5 to 9 ft #3/4 for a small, technical mountain torrent. Floating line, 9 to 12 ft leader to 5X. Studded boots for the glacial boulder-and-cobble bed.
Why this works
Water at 19.2°C — above the brown trout caution line (18°C). Fish dawn or dusk only. Land it fast, wet hands, no air shots.

Brown Trout fly box

A fuller Italian trout and grayling box for the southern Alps and northern limestone/alpine systems. It keeps the marble-trout streamer accent, but adds proper grayling dries and bugs, competition nymphs, caddis/olive work, terrestrials, pocket-water dries and alpine lake patterns.

About this water

The Piave's principal tributary alongside the Cordevole, and a proper Dolomite torrent — forty-five kilometres of dolomite and limestone dropping south through Cortina d'Ampezzo and Cadore before it joins the main river at Perarolo. Narrower and more technical than the Piave itself: tight corridors through spruce forest, short pools behind glacial boulders, wild brown trout throughout and marble trout showing occasionally as the valley opens out below Cortina. Cold, clear water that rewards a quiet approach more than a clever fly.

What would change the calculation
Cooler water — back toward the 10–16 °C ideal band — would lift the score and ease welfare.
The dawn and dusk windows score higher than the midday lull.
