About this water

The Grande Cascapédia is one of the world's great Atlantic salmon rivers — large fish (historically the biggest in Québec, averaging 8–14 kg), private lodge tradition rivalling the Restigouche, and exceptional natural beauty. Mixed geology creates substantial flows. Traditional wet-fly fishing dominates though dry fly is effective in low water. Access includes both ZEC public water and private/club sections. The Petite Cascapédia is a separate, smaller system nearby. Atlantic salmon are managed under Québec's rivière system — mandatory catch-and-release of large salmon applies on most rivers, with limited grilse retention; check the river's current quota and rules before fishing.
