About this water

The Endrick Water is a declining Atlantic salmon system where declining Atlantic salmon populations are Category 3 under Scottish Government classification; every fish returned matters. Mandatory catch-and-release applies. The salmon run is modest but real; the sea trout run is the prize, and in a good year the Endrick fishes as well as anywhere in Scotland for night sea trout through July and into August. Fishing is controlled by Loch Lomond Angling Improvement Association (LLAIA), which also manages Loch Lomond itself — a single permit covers both waters. Day tickets are available via the association and through local outlets around Drymen. Lower reaches are flat and meandering; the middle river above Drymen has better character and faster water.
