The Tagliamento's principal tributary, dropping fast off the Carnic Alps through Val Canale and the Canal del Ferro on a bed of pale limestone cobbles that keep it noticeably clearer than the river it joins at Portis. Marble trout and brown trout hold through the pocket water and pool tails around Moggio Udinese. Grayling were once dense here but never recovered after the catastrophic 1994 flood, so treat any as a bonus rather than a target.
