How to fish it · for Grayling
When
August through September is prime — Norwegian grayling fishing is at its best in late summer when olives and sedges bring fish up. Mid-day rises in cooler weather; long daylight stretches the fishable window.
Where
Glomma's grayling water at Kvennan is wide and demanding. Gravel runs, the heads of riffles, and deeper glide tails. Find the shoals; wade carefully.
Method
Dry to risers with sedges, olives, and the late-summer spinner falls. Euro-nymphing through the deeper pockets when fish aren't up. Long fine tippet — Glomma grayling are wary in clear water.
Kit
9 to 10 ft #4 for dries; 10 ft #3 nymphing rod for the deep pockets. Floating line, 12 ft leader to 4 to 5 lb fluoro tippet.
Why this works
Fair — water temperature is working for you, but time of day is the limiting factor today.
