Chile's second-largest lake spreads out beneath Osorno and Calbuco, a vast sheet of volcanic-glacial water that can be flat calm at dawn and whitecapped by lunch. Fishing here means working the edges — inflows, drop-offs and wind-exposed points where baitfish gather and brown and rainbow trout patrol, with chinook salmon adding size and unpredictability. Woolly Buggers, bunny leeches and sculpin patterns stripped along structure account for most fish; a boat opens up water that shore-casters can't reach. The lake's scale is the whole story: weather swings hard and fast off the volcanoes, so plans need to stay loose and safety-minded. Locals read the wind before they read the water, and it's worth doing the same.
