A separate basin to the Miño, draining from the Xinzo de Limia plain south into Portugal where it becomes the Lima. The Galician section is wild brown trout water through the Baixa Limia and into the Peneda-Gerês transfrontier protected area. Two gauging points — Xinzo for the headwater plain and Ponteliñares for the gorge — frame the fishable Galician reach. Best fished in May and June in the middle gorge sections.

In Galicia's Atlantic trout rivers, resident browns feed through a spring build-up of olives and other up-wings into a long summer of caddis and small buzzers, with frequent spates and cool water keeping fish active; terrestrials from lush banks and meadows become important once levels settle and the banks green up.
