Crystal-clear marl lake adjacent to Lough Mask — one of Ireland's purest limestone loughs. Excellent wild brown trout with superb olive and mayfly hatches. Shallow and exposed which means it needs calm conditions, but when you get the right breeze and the right hatch, the fishing can be magical. The clarity is remarkable — you'll see fish that most anglers never get to sight fish to.
Duckfly hatches typically run from late March to early May, followed by the main olive hatches beginning around mid-April. Mayfly can start in late April or early May and is usually best by mid-May, with sedges carrying the fishing from May through the rest of the season and especially good in July. Murroughs and smaller late sedges become plentiful again in August and September, mostly in the evening.
