A small Mero tributary running parallel to the parent river and joining it at Betanzos. The Mendo is intimate granite freestone water with classic Atlantic small-river character — pool-riffle structure, partial canopy, manageable scale. Wild brown trout only. Useful as a follow-on or alternative to the parent Mero, especially in the middle reaches above Betanzos.
In Galicia's Atlantic trout rivers, resident browns feed through a spring build-up of olives and other up-wings into a long summer of caddis and small buzzers, with frequent spates and cool water keeping fish active; terrestrials from lush banks and meadows become important once levels settle and the banks green up.
