When
Conditions are not ideal but fishable at Siblyback Lake. The ripple should help fish move and feed more confidently. Very warm conditions — trout have a narrower safe zone of cool, oxygen-rich water. Fish only at first light or last light, use barbless hooks, keep fish in the water during release, and stop if fish struggle to recover.
Where
Start with Marabou Damsel (8-12) — on the point. Early in the day, try buzzers on a slow figure-of-eight or a booby on a fast-sink line near the bottom. Rainbows respond to more active retrieves — try short strips between pauses.

About this water

A Bodmin Moor reservoir at the edge of the moor, smaller and more sheltered than Colliford but with genuine upland character — clear granite-filtered water, a population of resident wild browns alongside the stocked rainbows, and a landscape that rewards the visit as much as the fishing. May and June bring a reliable beetle fall onto the surface; pre-book a Coulam boat by 3pm the day before to cover the drift lines the bank can't reach. Stocked and managed by South West Lakes Trust.
