About this water

The Tolminka is the single most conspicuous gap this pack has had — RD Tolmin manages nine named rivers over some 140 km of water, and until now the app carried four of them. It runs 10.2 km from the Julian Alps down to the Soča confluence at Tolmin town, past the club's own Faronika hatchery, which sits right at that confluence and does more than any single measure to explain why pure marble trout are again the dominant salmonid in this watershed rather than a relic of it. The Tolmin Gorge reach is closed entirely — a natural monument inside Triglav National Park, and rightly so; the rest is a C&R section fished the way you'd fish any small limestone river that happens to hold genuinely wild fish: quietly, on a light rod, with barbless hooks because the rules say so and because it's obviously the right thing to do.
