A Ferrolterra river falling from the Sierra de la Loba through San Sadurniño to the Ría de Ferrol. The Xubia is a granite spate river with steady flows and good cover — partially canopied, with classic pool-and-riffle structure. Wild brown trout throughout the middle and upper reaches; sea trout running into the lower river around Neda from July onwards. Less famous than the southern Galician reo systems but well-regarded by local anglers.
In Galicia's Atlantic trout rivers, resident browns feed through a spring build-up of olives and other up-wings into a long summer of caddis and small buzzers, with frequent spates and cool water keeping fish active; terrestrials from lush banks and meadows become important once levels settle and the banks green up.
