The Dolinka is the quieter of the two Sava headwaters, dropping out of the Tamar valley near Kranjska Gora into water so cold and clear it makes you reconsider your choice of waders. Brown trout mostly, with rainbow trout again from the stocking programmes of an earlier decade. Smaller and more intimate than its sister river, and better for it in a way — this is pocket-water fishing where a good drift matters rather more than fly selection, which is either reassuring or slightly deflating depending on how much you enjoyed choosing the fly.
