About this beat

A developing side channel below Eddington Pool, winding past Eddington Lake to a new bridge on Beat 2. Largely too overgrown to fish directly, but valuable shelter and spawning habitat for the wider fishery.

Rules

Commoner-rights and paying-rod syndicate water, not a day ticket. Largely a habitat channel rather than an active fishing beat. No right of access during the close season. No wading, except on Freeman's Marsh (Beat 12). Daily limit 4 trout (13"/33cm, 1½oz/400g+), max 2 from any one beat except Lower Meadow; return undersized fish quickly if undamaged.

Controller

Town and Manor of Hungerford

Species

Wild brown trout, Grayling

Methods

Fishing is upstream only with a dry-fly. Nymph fishing is only permitted from 1st July. Wet flies, lures or goldheads may not be used, and no hook larger than size 12.
