About this beat

Roughly a kilometre of the River Dun within an SSSI, one of two Town & Manor Dun beats, with its own fishing hut. Shallow and fast at the top, deepening into darker corners downstream that hold surprisingly large fish. Catch-and-release only.

Rules

Within an SSSI; catch-and-release only. Syndicate / nominated-rod access, not a casual day ticket. No right of access during the close season. No wading, except on Freeman's Marsh (Beat 12). Daily limit 4 trout (13"/33cm, 1½oz/400g+), max 2 from any one beat except Lower Meadow; return undersized fish quickly if undamaged.

Methods

Fishing is upstream only with a dry-fly. Nymph fishing is only permitted from 1st July. Wet flies, lures or goldheads may not be used, and no hook larger than size 12.
