About this beat
The first beat below the Kennet/Dun confluence — shallow, fast and thick with ranunculus, with strong mayfly, olive and sedge sport and a healthy stock of free-rising wild trout.
Rules
Commoner-rights and paying-rod syndicate water, not a day ticket. The only beat exempt from the two-trout-per-beat limit (the daily four-fish fishery limit still applies). Gate keys for step-free access to the River Dun, for those unable to climb the stiles, are available from the River Keeper. Vehicles are not permitted on the Lower Meadow. Trout season from 1 May; grayling to end of December for members. No right of access during the close season. No wading, except on Freeman's Marsh (Beat 12).
